The course is closed. COURSE CLOSED After a further inspection it has been determined that the course will not dry out enough to allow any play tomorrow. The course will therefore remain closed on Saturday. Next inspection Sunday 8.00

The name of the club shall be “Cleethorpes Golf Club”.

The entire control and management of the Club is vested in the Directors of Cleethorpes Golf Club (1894) Ltd.

Every member shall be bound by and submit to the bye-laws and rules of the Club, or any alteration or amendment of the same under Rule 15.

It is intended that the members of the Club shall, as far as possible, be the same persons as the members of the Company. Members of the Company are defined as those in membership classes (a), (b), (d), (f), (g), (h), (j) and (k) as stated in Rule 5. In the case of a newly elected member of the Company, such member must undertake to contribute to the assets of the Company, in the event of the same being wound up while he or she is a member, or within one year after he or she ceases to be a member, for payment of the debts and liabilities of the Company contracted before he or she ceases to be a member and of the costs, charges and expenses of winding up and for the adjustment of the rights of the contributories among themselves, such amount as may be required not exceeding £1.

The Company’s Articles of Association provide that the number of Directors shall not be less than seven, nor more than twelve, and that one-third of the Directors shall retire annually in rotation but shall be eligible for re-election.

(a) Application for membership shall be in writing addressed to the Club, and the Directors shall cause the names and addresses of such applicants to be posted on the club notice board.
(b) All such applicants shall first be considered by the membership sub-committee, who may interview applicants, and make recommendations to the Directors.
(c) The Directors may refuse membership or expel from membership only for good and sufficient cause, such as conduct or character likely to bring the Company or sport into disrepute. Appeal against such a decision may be made to the Company’s members and decided by a majority vote.
(d) On the admission of the new member the Manager shall inform the applicant furnishing him/her with a copy of these rules and bye-laws, and requesting him/her to remit the fees due and until payment has been received he or she will not be entitled to enjoy the advantages and privileges of the Club.
(e) Persons may not be admitted to membership until their fees have been paid or a financial arrangement made for their payment.
(f) Candidates may not be admitted to any of the privileges of membership, without an interval of at least two days between their application for membership and their admission.

The Club will hold a General Meeting at least once in every year, and 15 months must not elapse between meetings.
(a) The Directors may summon an extraordinary General Meeting at any time on reasonable notice (reasonable notice being not less than 21 days).
(b) Not less than 25 members entitled to attend and vote at a General Meeting may require the Directors to summon an extraordinary General Meeting on reasonable notice (reasonable notice being not less than 21 days).

The following shall be the classes of membership:-
(a) Full Membership – Ladies or Gentlemen
(b) Country Membership – Ladies or Gentlemen residing more than 30 miles from the clubhouse.
(c) Junior Membership – Girls or Boys
i) Under 12 Academy ii) Under 12 iii) 12-15 iv) 16-17.

Children may be allowed on the Course and in the Clubhouse as follows:-

Course Non Playing
Under 8 Years Old - Allowed with an adult golf member
Aged 8 - 9 - Allowed with adults
Aged 10 - 17 - Allowed with adults

Course Playing
Under 8 Years Old - Allowed with an adult golf member
Aged 8 - 9 - Allowed with adults
Aged 10 - 17 - Allowed as Junior

Under 8 Years Old - Allowed with accompanied by an adult up to 8pm
Aged 8 - 9 - Allowed when accompanied by an adult
Aged 10 - 17 - May be unaccompanied

(d) Social Membership (Ex Playing) – Ladies or Gentlemen not being a playing member.
Spouse or partner of a playing member under (a) may have the full use of the clubhouse and be regarded as a Social Member, the fee for such being included in the subscription payable under that clause. Playing members who convert to Social Membership keep their voting rights. Social Membership does not carry any playing privileges and Social Members may not play golf by paying a green fee. The exception to this is for Social Members who are playing members of another golf club, who may play the course on payment of the appropriate green fee.
(e) Social Membership – Ladies or Gentlemen not being a playing or ex-playing member.
(f) Senior Membership – Ladies or Gentlemen who are ex playing members and must be 65 or over at their subscription renewal date. This class of membership allows the member to play ten games of golf per subscription year.
(g) Honorary Membership – Ladies or Gentlemen.
(h) Life Membership – Ladies or Gentlemen.
(i) Intermediate Membership – Ladies or Gentlemen between the ages of 18 and 30.
(j) Flexible Membership – Ladies or Gentlemen.
(k) Twilight Membership – Ladies or Gentlemen. Offers unlimited golf from 5pm daily (April to September), from 2pm daily (October) and 12pm daily (November to March).
(l) Trial Membership – Ladies or Gentlemen, for a period of 3 months.
(m) Academy Membership – Ladies or Gentlemen. 6 months restricted membership for those new to golf.
(n) Student Membership – Ladies or Gentlemen in full-time further education.
(o) Staff Membership – Ladies or Gentlemen.

Entrance Fees, subscriptions and levies shall be in such amounts and payable on dates as the Directors shall decide.

Members who leave the Club to take up employment or residence elsewhere may, on making application, be permitted to play upon payment of a green fee, for a limited period until joining another Golf Club.

Annual Subscriptions shall be payable in advance and shall fall due on the 1st September, 1st December, 1st March and 1st June of each year (subscription due dates).
(a) Any member failing to pay his or her Annual Subscription by the end of the month following their subscription due date shall be held to be in arrears and shall not be entitled to exercise any of the privileges of membership or take part in any Club competition or activity until his or her Annual Subscription is paid.
(b) Members may make arrangements with a finance company to pay their Annual Subscription monthly. This arrangement is strictly between the finance company and the member.
If members default on their monthly payments then such members shall be held to be in arrears and shall not be entitled to exercise any of the privileges of membership or take part in any Club competition or activity until his or her monthly payments are brought up to date.
(c) All members in arrears one month after their subscription due date or members who are paying by arrangement and who are in arrears by one month shall be notified. Notice shall be sent to him or her by the Manager that his or her subscription is overdue. Failing payment within twenty-one days his or her name shall be posted on the Club Notice Boards.
(d) Any member failing to pay his or her current Annual Subscription by the end of the second month after the subscription due date or members who are paying by arrangement and who are in arrears by two months shall cease to be a member of the Club and the Board of Directors shall cause his or her name to be removed from the register of members.
(e) Any member who is not up to date with his or her subscription shall lose their right to vote at the AGM.

(a) Members wishing to change their class of membership i.e. from Full to Social shall notify the Manager in writing before their subscription due date for the following year.
(b) The effective date for change from Junior to Intermediate and to Full membership shall be the subscription due date following their relevant birthday.

A member may at any time, by giving notice in writing to the Manager, resign his or her membership of the Club, but shall continue to be liable for the annual subscription due and unpaid at the date of his or her resignation. Any such member having discharged all his or her liabilities to the Club and wishing to rejoin may, upon an available vacancy, be proposed in accordance with Rule 3 and the Board of Directors may, at their discretion, excuse him or her the entrance fee.

If a member resigns at the end of the subscription year and subsequently wishes to rejoin within 12 months, the full subscription for that year will be payable, with the renewal date remaining the same i.e. member resigns on 31 August 2021 and wishes to rejoin on 1 March 2022. The full subscription for the year will be payable and the renewal date will remain 1 September 2022.
If a member resigns at the end of the subscription year and wishes to rejoin after more than 12 months, the appropriate joining fee at that time will be payable in addition to the annual subscription.

Visitors, who must be a member of an affiliated golf club and have a current handicap certificate, shall have the privilege of playing on the course and the use of the clubhouse at such times and on payment of such fees as the Directors shall decide. Each visitor shall be adequately equipped for the purpose of playing golf and must abide by our dress rules. The Directors, the Professional and the Manager shall have the right to refuse admission to any person to play on the course or use the clubhouse.

A member introducing and playing with a personal guest shall be entitled to a reduced green fee for the first of such guests. A guest is entitled to the reduced green fee up to a maximum of ten times per calendar year.

Council Tax payers in the Borough of Cleethorpes are not to be regarded as ‘Visitors’, but as coming within the special arrangements between the Club and the Council.

A member may introduce guests but the same guest may not be introduced more than 26 times in any one calendar year. A member may introduce two guests and they shall make a legible entry in the book provided for recording such visits. The entry shall show the name of the member, the name and address of the guest(s), and the date of the visit. The entry should be signed by both the member and the guest(s).

Each member shall communicate his/her address and any subsequent change thereof to the Manager, and all notices sent to such address shall be considered duly delivered.

(a) The Directors shall have the power to reprimand, suspend (for a period not exceeding 2 years) or expel, or disqualify from entering Club Competitions for as long as the Directors think fit or suspend the handicap of, any Member who shall infringe any Rule or Bye-law of the Club or who shall commit a breach of the Rules of Golf and/or the Rules of Amateur Status or whose conduct, whether within the Clubhouse or elsewhere, shall, in their opinion, render him or her unfit for Membership. Such power shall not be exercised until it has been delegated to a Disciplinary Committee of not less than three impartial members who shall conduct an inquiry into the conduct of the Member in strict accordance with the “Instructions for the Procedure and Conduct of Disciplinary Committees in Relation to the Conduct of Playing Members” as published in the current year book of the English Golf Union. Appeal against such a decision may be made to the Company’s members and decided by a majority vote.
(b) By a majority of 2/3 of the members present and voting (by ballot) at a meeting of the Directors, the Directors may expel, suspend or reprimand any Member who has been convicted by a Court or officially cautioned by the Police for an offence of dishonesty, a sexual offence, or an offence of violence. After a Member has been arrested for any such offence, or has been committed for trial for any such offence, that Member shall not be permitted to enter the Clubhouse, or to go on the Course, whether to play golf or for any other purpose, until the conclusions of the criminal proceedings, without the consent in writing of the Directors conveyed through the Manager. If a Member is convicted of any such offence, that Member shall not be permitted to enter the Clubhouse or go on to the Course, whether to play golf or for any other purpose, without the consent in writing of the Directors conveyed through the Manager.

All complaints and suggestions shall be made in writing to the Manager for submission to the Directors.

No member shall be allowed to bring an animal into the Clubhouse or onto the course.
There shall be an exception for Guide Dogs.

Any new rule or bye-law or alteration thereof, and every bye-law passed by the Directors published on the club notice board, shall be valid.

Members of the company shall give not less than 28 days’ notice to the Manager of any intention to propose at the Annual General Meeting any new rule or alteration, or bye-law. The Directors shall cause to be sent to each member of the company 21 days before the Annual General Meeting details of the alterations or additions proposed by such members.

The clubhouse shall be open for the sale of alcohol during such periods as the Directors shall from time to time direct. These periods shall be within the Permitted Hours as laid down in the Premises Licence Certificate under the Licensing Act 2003. The clubhouse may be closed for such times as the Directors may deem necessary.

There will not be a Club Captain. There will be a Captain of the Men’s Section and a Captain of the Ladies’ Section. Each Captain will represent their Section of the Club at all events that fall within their jurisdiction. In their year of office, the two Captains shall share responsibility and authority for all Club functions and will agree at the outset of their terms of office those events which will be undertaken individually or jointly.
Both Captains shall be given precedence on the playing tees, and be ex officio members of all committees appointed by the members and to vote thereon and shall be invited to attend all meetings of the Directors, but not to vote. The Vice-Captains shall assist the Captains and act as such in their absence.

The Past Captains at a meeting annually shall select a member who shall be recommended to the members at the next ensuing Annual General Meeting to be the Captain for the period until the next Annual General Meeting.

The Lady Captain is elected in terms of seniority of membership. Lady members who have previously deferred the Captaincy will be asked annually prior to other lady members.

At every General Meeting the members shall elect the following committee :-
The committees shall consist of at least 6 members which shall include the Chairman (who shall be one of the existing Directors) and a Secretary. The committees shall have power to co-opt members for special purposes. The Chairman of the Club shall be ex officio member of all committees.

Each year one third of the members shall retire but may be re-elected.

The Manager shall post on the notice board a list of all committees and at the time of election indicate those who are retiring at the same time asking for nominations to such committees.

The Directors may at any time appoint such sub-committees as they consider necessary to conduct the affairs of the Club, but shall appoint the following :-
(a) Green sub-committee consisting of 3 Directors who may co-opt other members.
(b) Finance and House sub-committee consisting of 3 Directors and the Manager.

The Directors shall have the power to add to or reduce the members of sub-committees.

The Chairman shall be ex officio member of all sub-committees and the Manager of the Club shall be the Secretary of such sub-committees

The sub-committees need not be elected annually and the Directors shall fill such vacancies as they arise.

The Directors may recommend for election by the members any person or persons as a President or Vice-President in recognition of services to the Club.

The Rules of the Game shall be those of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, subject to the Local Rules in force for the time being.

All sections of the Club shall observe the Rules of the Club and abide by the decisions of the Directors.

The Directors shall be the sole authority for interpreting the rules and bye-laws of the Club, and for the settling of all disputes relating to the affairs of the Club and the conduct of the members in relation thereto, and if any question shall arise as to the rights, powers or duties of the Company in relation to the Club, or any members of the Club as such, the Directors shall have sole authority for determining it.

The Directors may from time to time make such bye-laws and local rules as they think necessary and such bye-laws and local rules shall be posted on the Club Notice Board.

Damage and injury to property or persons by Members on or off the Course MUST be reported to the Manager. Members are advised to take out adequate insurance.

Members are permitted to practice on the course as follows: -
(a) On the prescribed areas between the 4th and 5th and the 9th and 16th fairways.
(b) Members, when playing the course may only play two golf balls.
(c) Members practicing should be careful not to obstruct or interfere when Members are playing on or adjacent to the holes above referred to.
All golf balls used in practicing should be clearly marked and subsequently removed from the practice ground.

These Bye Laws are supplementary to the Rules of the Club and are not to be interpreted as inconsistent with such Rules.
